1. Position Purpose The Senior Accountant / Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for delivering high- quality accounting and advisory services while contributing to the effective performance and operation of the branch. The role operates as the second point of leadership within the branch, working closely with the General Manager to support delivery of financial, operational, and team outcomes. Final accountability for branch performance, decision-making, and resource management sits with the General Manager.

2. Key Responsibilities 2.1 Technical Delivery & Review

• Prepare and/or review financial statements, tax returns, and GST • Deliver Business Advisory Services (BAS) including management reporting, cash

flow analysis, budgeting, and business performance advice • Ensure compliance with New Zealand accounting and tax requirements • Maintain high standards of accuracy, documentation, and file quality • Provide guidance and feedback to team members to improve technical

capability 2.2 Client Relationship Management

• Act as a key point of contact for a portfolio of clients • Build strong, trusted client relationships through proactive communication • Lead client meetings and provide practical accounting and business advice • Proactively review compliance clients’ needs to identify where Business Advisory

Services would add value, and raise those opportunities with the client 2.3 Branch Performance Contribution

• Contribute to the achievement of branch performance targets, including: o Revenue

o Productivity o Profitability

• Support the General Manager in monitoring financial performance, including WIP, recoverability, and billing

• Identify risks and opportunities impacting performance and escalate appropriately

• Apply sound commercial judgement in day-to-day decision-making 2.4 Business Development

• Actively contribute to the generation of new business and revenue • Build and maintain referral relationships • Identify and support client development opportunities, particularly expanding

tax compliance clients into Business Advisory Services • Contribute to growth and retention of the client base • Actively prospect for new clients across all service lines, with particular focus on

BAS 2.5 Team Leadership & Capability

• Work closely with the General Manager to support team performance and capability development

• Mentor and guide team members • Coach team members to review client needs and recognise when Business

Advisory Services may be appropriate, supporting a consistent client development mindset across the team

• Delegate work appropriately to support efficiency and development • Provide clear, constructive feedback • Contribute to a positive, professional, and accountable team culture • Support early identification and escalation of performance issues

2.6 Workflow & Operations

• Maintain strong visibility of workflow across the branch • Work closely with the General Manager to coordinate workflow, priorities, and

deadlines • Ensure work is progressed and delivered within agreed timeframes • Assist in allocating work in line with team capacity and capability • Identify and escalate workflow risks or bottlenecks

2.7 Systems & Process

• Ensure consistent and effective use of systems, including workflow tools and CRM

• Maintain accurate job tracking and client records

• Support system discipline across the team • Identify and contribute to process and efficiency improvements • Support implementation of standardised practices

2.8 Professional Development

• Maintain up-to-date technical and commercial knowledge • Undertake ongoing CPD • Actively seek opportunities to improve capability and performance • Contribute to continuous improvement across the business

3. Performance Expectations The employee is expected to:

• Meet agreed KPIs across financial, client, team, and operational areas • Deliver high-quality work and demonstrate leadership within the scope of the
