A Lower Hutt based organisation are on the lookout for two experienced Payroll officers for part time permanent roles within their large payroll function.  The organisations’ processes and procedures are complex and fast paced, so having relevant expertise is the key to success.


The Payroll officer is expected to assist the wider payroll team with technical support whilst also conducting fast paced and manual end to end payroll runs on a weekly and fortnightly basis.  The role sits within a collaborative team environment that encourages participation, empowerment and open communication throughout the department.


There are two part time payroll officer vacancies available:

  • One role offers 24 hours per week rotating over three days

  • The other role offers 16 hours per week rotating over three days

  • Both roles offer permanent employment

  • Both roles offer career progression, training and longevity within a friendly team environment


What you would be doing

As the Payroll officer, you will be doing any of the following:

  • Conduct end to end payroll payment runs on weekly and fortnightly basis

  • Provide guidance on payroll related queries to staff and related stakeholders

  • Adhere to relevant policies, procedures and legislation orientated to payroll

  • Display a high calibre of customer service towards staff and stakeholders with all payroll related tasks



Who are we looking for?

We’re interested in hearing from people with two or more years’ experience as a Payroll Officer but more importantly, we need enthusiastic professionals who are excellent communicators, have a keen eye for detail, and the ability to juggle workloads and deadlines without breaking a sweat. Ideally, you should have the following experience:

  • Two or more years’ experience in payroll from a practical prospective

  • Recent experience in running end to end payroll processes for approximately 1500 – 2000 staff and above

  • Have competent knowledge of the holidays act, wages protection act, PAYE and ACC.

  • Exposure to a selection of widely used payroll systems – ideally PayGlobal, Leader, IMS Payroll or SAP.
